Dear LRA Members,
In this season of Giving Thanks, many of us likely included Lake Rabun among our many blessings. Frequently, I have heard family and friends offer a blessing with the words “and thank you for blessing us with the peace and beauty of this special place”. In one of his letters, Buz Stone wrote, “Let’s show our gratitude for this special place by being good neighbors and giving to the needs of Rabun County”. Over the years, LRA members have done just that, and come together to generously provide scholarships and address needs in Rabun County.
The Lake Rabun Foundation Annual Fund is the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts. For each of the past five years, more LRA members have contributed to the Annual Fund. These additional gifts have enabled the Foundation to increase the number of college scholarships awarded, help Rabun students attending technical school, and to provide additional assistance to Rabun non-profits involved in education, child welfare, food ministries and environmental programs.
A gentleman involved with a Rabun food outreach program remarked, “the folks on Lake Rabun do so much for this community—you help kids by supporting the food programs—and you provide scholarships---and you ask nothing in return”.
The mission of the Lake Rabun Foundation is one I delight in sharing, and its success should be a source of accomplishment for all LRA members. Next year the Foundation will distribute close to $100,000 in scholarships and outreach grants in Rabun County. The Foundation can only accomplish this with the commitment, hard work and financial support of LRA members. Donors to the LRF Annual Fund will be recognized next year on the LRA website.
Thank You for the many ways you provide ongoing support to our Foundation and THANK YOU for your consideration of support of this year’s ANNUAL FUND. We are, indeed, blessed to be part of this Lake Rabun community.
Wishing Peace and Blessings for you and your family for Christmas and the Holiday Season,
Lake Rabun Foundation
